MY PHILOSOPHY

Growing up in Mexico, I can remember being inside, while the other kids were outside playing. I would sit quietly, drawing and creating with any material I could find. Back then it wasn't so much about design, but rather just the easiest way to express myself.

I can't remember a single moment in my life when I wasn't completely enveloped by design... it is my calling.

To express one's self through design, is like speaking a private language. And when you are creating that design for another person, then it becomes a beautiful and eloquent conversation.

For myself, design is always personal. There is no way around this fact, because by its nature, design takes what is on the inside of a person and bring it out for the world to see. This is both scary and liberating at the same time.

DESIGN = STRUCTURE

When I first began to design an event, I started by exploring my client's vision. Even if they don't realize it, that vision is based on a structure. Sometimes this is expressed as a theme, image, color, song, memory or even a scent. If you look closely, you will see that everything in the world, has an innate structure. This is also true for design.

Take for example, that each kind of flower has a petal structure that can be echoed in the table centerpiece. This in turn, is part of the composition of the room. And finally, that room belongs to the overall architecture of the event. It's a simple concept, but this kind of thoughtfulness is the foundation for a cohesive event, that is visually appealing.
